Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Diagnosed at the Age of Eight Years: A Case Report
More than 70% of global deaths are due to non-communicable diseases (NCDs), with diabetes being one of the top five. While type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) typically begins in adulthood, its prevalence in children and adolescents is rising. A recent study in Bangladesh found that some children were diagnosed before age 10, and this report highlights the youngest known T2DM case in Bangladesh—diagnosed at age eight.
