Blastomycosis Masquerading as Tuberculosis: A Diagnostic Challenge in a Patient With Diabetes
Blastomycosis, a fungal infection caused by Blastomyces dermatitidis, often mimics tuberculosis and other infections, making diagnosis difficult. It is more severe in immunocompromised individuals, such as those with diabetes. This case highlights a Haitian immigrant initially treated for TB who was later diagnosed with disseminated blastomycosis after failing to respond to standard TB therapy.
